SAS Institute Enhances AppDev Studio


SAS Institute, announced it will ship Release 1.2 of AppDev Studio with Java enhancements during the second quarter of 2000. The company is extending its development environment to JavaServer Pages technology and Java Servlets. SAS Institute will begin support for Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition in mid 2000. The enhanced suite of software products is being unveiled at the Java Business conference in New York.

AppDev Studio delivers n-tier solutions using Web technologies. N-tier business applications allow components to be used and reused to meet business requirements, equipping users to leverage existing data and business logic. AppDev Studio speeds the creation and debugging of applications, addressing the growing IT skills shortage and demand for Web delivery of information.

Enhancements to AppDev Studio include interactive debugging capabilities, improved mainframe support, and support for JavaServer Pages technology and Java Servlets, which are core technologies in the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition.
