Spotfire Releases Spotfire Pro 4.1

Spotfire, Inc., a provider of technical and scientific decision support software, announced the availability of Spotfire Pro 4.1. Spotfire Pro allows users to interactively mine, visualize, and analyze large sets of technical, multidimensional data to identify trends and understand relationships within them. The enhancements in Spotfire Pro 4.1 include new line chart views, Active X controls, and reverse sorting of column values.

Spotfire Pro allows scientists, managers, and technical personnel to interact with and visually comprehend data sets that can contain as many as one million records and dozens of variables- even without rudimentary knowledge of relationships that may exist within the data. Enhancements within Spotfire Pro 4.1 allow research teams to compare before-and-after views within Spotfire Pro to discern the effect of the applied treatment. Users are now able to monitor and analyze a set of data across a series of different conditions. Additional improvements provide screening groups with the ability to monitor the quality of high-throughput screening data. Version 4.1, also provides a more natural and intuitive look into the data, facilitating quicker processing.

Spotfire Pro 4.1 includes the following enhanced capabilities:

• Line chart visualization -- This new type of visualization allows users to superimpose columns onto the Y-axis of a scatter plot and provides improved support for time-course experiments and process-control data, while monitoring variables such as temperature, cost and pH, among other conditions.
• Reverse sorting of column values -- Reverse sorting gives users better axis control when visualizing data to measure quality control in high-throughput screening.
• Active X component -- Active X control allows users to embed Spotfire Pro software in any Web page viewed within Internet Explorer.
• Arrow style for line connection -- This feature gives users the ability to add arrows to the line connection in a scatter plot.
• Regular expression string matching in text search -- Regular expression string matching allows improved syntax when filtering through Spotfire software's Full Text Search query device.
• Orthogonal straight-line fit -- This enhancement offers users a new way to calculate the best line fit for statistics in a scatter plot.
• Improved image generation for reporting and improved image when exporting to clipboard -- All images to be exported are synchronized by using the same image layout.
• Enhancements to 3-D visualizations -- 3-D images are updated faster in Version 4.1.
