SANDIA NATIONAL LABORATORIES PAIRS WITH PRINCETON SOFTECH

Princeton Softech, a subsidiary of Computer Horizons Corp., announced that Sandia National Laboratories has chosen Move for Servers to migrate large volumes of complex relational data from DB2 UDB for OS/390 and Sybase to Oracle.

"Data migration across heterogeneous platforms and databases is fundamental to so many business strategies, such as testing, archiving, business intelligence and data sharing," notes Joe Allegra, president, Princeton Softech. "Princeton Softech's Move for Servers delivers the speed, accuracy, scalability and security that IT professionals need when migrating data between disparate platforms."

To be more responsive and flexible to customer demands, Sandia Labs changed its corporate computing platform from a mainframe to a client/server environment, and chose Oracle as its corporate database platform. Sandia chose Princeton Softech's Move for Servers to migrate twelve years of valuable historical DB2 data from the mainframe. The Labs also had a heavy investment in a Sybase data warehouse that it needed to transition to Oracle.

"Sandia Labs evaluated five software products," states Bill Mertens, Database Administrator, Sandia National Laboratories. "Princeton Softech's Move for Servers met all the requirements that Sandia set forth for a data migration tool. As an added benefit, it was compatible with Princeton Softech's Move for DB2, the data extract product installed on our mainframe. Move for Servers proved to be a prudent investment, as it was the only solution that left Sandia with significant functionality after the mainframe was eliminated, such as the ability to migrate data between Sybase and Oracle."

Built upon Princeton Softech's Relationship Engine), Move for Servers' is 100% accurate. An industrial strength data movement tool, it enables users to extract test data from the most complex databases, regardless of how many tables or relationships are involved. The product understands `application-managed' relationships and extended relationships. Its intuitive interface makes Move for Servers easy to use and its cross-platform capabilities minimize the learning curve for users who operate within multi-platform environments. Princeton Softech's Move for Servers supports all database environments embraced by the company's Relational Tools for Servers family, which currently include Sybase, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 UDB and DB2 UDB for OS/390 databases. The Relational Tools for Servers provide data movement interoperability and editing across these heterogeneous DBMSs. Move for Servers pricing, on a per seat basis, starts at $30,000 for 10 seats, with support for one specified server based database.
