AlphaServ.com Automates Web Agent Development
The AlphaCONNECT Internet division of AlphaServ.com, which soon will be marketing its technologies under the NQL Solutions name announced that it has developed a web browser recording and playback function for its Network Query Language (NQL).
This NQL function works during a normal web browser session, whereby as developers surf the web and move through various sites, an NQL agent script is simultaneously generated. Working much like a "virtual VCR," this function is designed to further save programming time and enable users to create an NQL script by attempting to navigate the web in a natural manner.
"This new function is a result of our pioneering new methods of accessing web sites," said Denny Michael, AlphaServ.com vice president of marketing. "The virtual VCR function is a component of our technology that enables agents to operate browsers independently and the ultimate goal is to make it possible for our agents to access today's more sophisticated web sites. Effectively, the NQL-created agent could perform the same web computing tasks that a human user does manually in order to obtain information, complete forms, perform transactions and conduct general business on the web."
The NQL feature is designed primarily to streamline the agent development process, much like macros do for common business applications. For example, if corporate web developers were interested in gathering daily information from a particular web site, using this web recording function, they could retrieve the information manually the first time, then agents would enable the browser to be on "auto-pilot" - retrieving the information automatically without user intervention.
"The beta test of this new functionality has been instrumental in attracting potential new customers for NQL," said Douglas J. Tullio, AlphaServ.com chairman, chief executive officer and president. "By shortening the time needed to write such scripts, potential customers can benefit from both a time and cost savings. Also, the technology becomes more attractive to a wider audience by allowing users to take advantage of the power of NQL via this new recording function, without having a strong technical background."
