Informatica Releases MX2-Based PowerPlug 3.0
Informatica Corporation announced the immediate availability of the MX2 PowerPlug 3.0. The release of Informatica's metadata bridge to today's three leading data-modeling tools helps deliver an expanded range of functionality that can assist customers in building solid metadata solutions.
MX2 PowerPlug 3.0 is designed as a productivity aid for customers who use a major data-modeling tool for designing and maintaining data source-and-target information. With the upgrade of PowerPlug, customers can now synchronize their Informatica repository at any time with updated structural or descriptive metadata from the data-modeling tool. Another new feature enables metadata to be moved between folders within an Informatica repository, or from one Informatica repository to another.
"MX2 PowerPlug 3.0 is a significant step toward the elusive goal of delivering clean, bi-directional metadata exchange in business intelligence environments," said Graham Burrows, senior vice president of research and development at Informatica. "This advanced metadata bridge improves the linkage capability between Informatica repositories and the leading data-modeling tools in many different ways. It delivers substantial leverage on the capital investment already made in these important knowledge management tools."
MX2 PowerPlug 3.0 is the result of a joint-development partnership between Informatica and Yaletown Technology Group, an Informatica partner specializing in business intelligence solutions, software architecture and design.
Among its important features, MX2 PowerPlug 3.0 provides the following advanced capabilities: bi-directional metadata exchange, metadata updating and synchronization from upstream data modeling tools; selective metadata exchange and update, table-level and field-level metadata comparison; and bi-directional metadata exchange between Informatica repositories. The new PowerPlug features reduce the effort required to capture the source-and-target metadata in Informatica's data-integration products, PowerCenter and PowerMart, allowing warehouse developers to concentrate on the key tasks of defining transformation and extraction processes.
PowerPlug 3.0 is now generally available and priced starting at $7,500.
