Popkin Adds Synchronization "Wizard" for Visual BasicPopkin Software announced that it had upgraded and updated its code engineering capability. Targeted at specific Interactive Development Environments (IDE's), the new "Wizard" technology will enable users to synchronize UML class diagrams directly with the open project they are working on. For maintained customers the new version of System Architect 2001 can be downloaded from the Popkin Website. While today's announcement covers only Microsoft Visual Basic. System Architect 2001 is already able to round-trip JAVA as well as forward and reverse engineering C++. Popkin plans, over the coming months, to migrate all language support to utilize this new wizard technology, due to its enhanced flexibility and increased ease of use. System Architect 2001 is the first Enterprise Modeling tool to include comprehensive support for business, process, object and data modeling and to support VBA as the mechanism for customization. The tool implements the leading business and process modeling notations, UML for component and object modeling, a model-based approach for data modeling, and also includes support for traditional analysis and design techniques. "With the emphasis we have placed on Enterprise Modeling over the last year, this release serves as a timely reminder that we have not forgotten that developers, as an important part of the enterprise, also need quality output from the tool," commented Ron Scherma, president of Popkin Software. "System Architect's code and database generation capabilities have always been first class and now we are making it easier still for people to deliver the e-business solutions they need." In addition to the new code "Wizard," Popkin has also taken the opportunity of updating and extending their support for C++ and Java, and have enhanced their database support as well. This new release also includes enhanced support for DB2 UDB6, Oracle 8, and SQL Server 7.
