Torrent/Sun Break e-Business Data Analysis BarriersTorrent Systems Inc, the first provider of scalable solutions for managing and integrating massive volumes of transaction and clickstream data, announced benchmark results. Torrent's Orchestrate analytical application continuously processed over 150 million clickstream records per hour, analyzing a total of more than 1.7 billion clickstream records in eleven hours. The benchmark test of real-time processing and analysis of Web server log data used Torrent's Orchestrate and the Sun Enterprise 6500. Orchestrate streamed clickstream data collected from more than 200 Web servers through a series of Orchestrate processes--including de-spidering, augmentations, and transformations--and produced 60 aggregations that are critical to categorizing visitors and understanding their behavior. "This benchmark validates Sun's leadership in delivering performance-driven solutions for e-Business data management and analysis," said Nancy Weintraub, director of programs and strategy for the Enterprise Server Product Group, Sun Microsystems Inc "This test demonstrates conclusively that Sun and Torrent can enable e-Businesses to reach a new level of understanding about Web visitor behavior. It would not have been possible to analyze such a large volume of clickstream data without Torrent's Orchestrate, whose parallel technology enables available, reliable, scalable, and extremely fast solutions for analyzing massive quantities of Internet data." Torrent's Orchestrate delivers unique competitive advantage to Internet and click-and-mortar enterprises by making it faster and easier for e-Businesses to create large-scale analytical systems that enable them to understand visitor behavior in greater depth than ever before. Unlike other clickstream processing and packaged Website analysis tools, which offer limited analytical function and cannot accommodate large clickstream volumes, Orchestrate offers sophisticated, scalable analytical components and a unique parallel infrastructure for processing large volumes of Internet and offline data on multiprocessor systems like the Sun Enterprise 6500. The Sun Enterprise 6500 delivers high availability and scalability computing environments for mission-critical applications for e-commerce, business and technical applications. "The benchmark results position Orchestrate as the scalable data analysis solution the e-Business industry demands," said Tom Ebling, CEO of Torrent Systems. "Torrent has historically demonstrated unsurpassed data processing and analyses results for brick-and-mortar companies like Fingerhut and United Airlines. Now, e-Business customers, who require tremendous application performance, scalability, and integration, can use Orchestrate to build continuous-processing analytical systems that operate at Internet scope and speed."
