COMPUTER CORPORATION OF AMERICA ANNOUNCES CCA ANALYTICS

Computer Corporation of America, whose database management software hosts some of the biggest and busiest databases in the world, has developed a new visual data analysis tool that lets customers quickly deploy high-performance decision support solutions.

Announced at CCA's worldwide Insight 204 User Symposium in Waltham, Mass, CCA Analytics provides the features and performance required to quickly analyze large volumes of data and gather business intelligence information from the database. It is designed to work with any number of data sources.

Allows Effective Analysis on Operational Databases

Unlike most analytical tools which are deployed against smaller read-only subsets of large operational databases, CCA Analytics can be used almost immediately to efficiently query even the largest transactional databases. "CCA Analytics melds the power of data management found in IBM's OS/390 platforms with the sophisticated data visualization capabilities of Microsoft Windows in such a way that the user can manipulate huge databases right on the desktop," said Strategic Director Chris Ramsdale. "You can drill right into the data, real time, any time, and look directly at the detailed records that produce summaries and statistics. Because you can work from all of the original source data, you can base business decisions on credible and current information."

New York State User Brings Up Data Warehousing Solution in Two Weeks Larry Dismore, director of the Central New York Regional Information Center at the Onandaga-Courtland-Madison Board of Cooperative Education Services (BOCES), in Syracuse, New York (phone 315-433-8301), used CCA Analytics to build an interim data warehousing solution in two weeks, long before the completion of their extensive data warehousing application. "We don't know of another tool for accessing and analyzing data that permits users to begin using a data warehousing system before it is completed," he said. "The practical benefit is that people can begin making better administrative decisions immediately and actually influence the way the data warehouse is built, rather than waiting for six months to try it out. This will help us build exactly what we need the first time."

CCA Analytics leverages the same CCA-developed technology that provides award-winning OLTP performance for very large databases. Working with a graphical data visualization and database navigation tool, users can easily define even the most complex analytical queries with a minimum of technical support. CCA Analytics can also dynamically interface data in a variety of output formats used by other analysis tools on the PC client and other host platforms. Other key features include:

  • Fast, accurate counts against multimillion record databases
  • Open-ended access to all customer information without IT assistance
  • On-line, iterative refinement and analysis of segment profiles
  • Unlimited segment assignment with user-defined names and descriptions
  • Complex segment manipulation

"When you consider all the data that exists in legacy systems, open data access standards, and now the Internet, businesses have access to more information than ever before," added CCA's CEO, Rick Ryan. "CCA Analytics helps business users learn more from their data resources, and make better business decisions in less time, and with less IT assistance than is required by other solutions."
