Hummingbird EIP to Ship with Red Hat Linux

Hummingbird Ltd, a world-leading enterprise software company, announced an agreement with Red Hat Inc, a leading provider of open source solutions for Internet infrastructure. Under the terms of the agreement, the Hummingbird EIP (Enterprise Information Portal) core engine will ship on the application CD with Red Hat Linux 6.2 Professional.

"This exciting new development supports Hummingbird's overall EIP deployment strategy," said Hummingbird president Barry Litwin. "By teaming with a Linux leader of Red Hat's stature, we are confident that we are advancing our goal of making the Hummingbird EIP available to users of the fastest growing server platform today." According to research published by the International Data Corp. (IDC), paid Linux shipments grew faster than any other server operating system over the past two years.

In July 1999, Hummingbird joined Red Hat's Independent Software Vendor Program (ISV), whereby they agreed to participate in joint marketing activities to give Linux users easy access to all of Hummingbird's fat client connectivity products. With this most recent collaboration, the two companies look forward to continuing to expand their relationship in the future.

Red Hat Linux 6.2, Professional Edition, (released on March 27, 2000), provides the complete software infrastructure needed for enterprise organizations to quickly, easily, and reliably deploy powerful e-commerce Web servers.
