Hyperion Solutions and IBM Expand PartnershipHyperion, a global leader in analytic application software, announced a significant expansion to its global partnership agreement with IBM. Under the expanded partnership, IBM will include Hyperion's market-leading Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server technology within every copy of DB2(a) Universal Database Version 7, the industry's most powerful e-business data management solution. The announcement, made in conjunction with IBM's launch of DB2(a) Universal Database Version 7, signals a strategic commitment from both companies to extend sophisticated and highly scalable business analysis capabilities to all DB2 customers. The solution, slated for availability from IBM later this year, will enable more than 40 million DB2 users from over 300,000 companies worldwide to leverage Hyperion Essbase, the market-leading, open, cross platform enterprise OLAP (online analytical processing) server, for a range of enterprise-wide business analysis applications in areas such as e-business analysis, customer relationship analysis, sales forecasting and management reporting. Hyperion Essbase will enable these customers to increase their return on e-business initiatives; strengthen customer, supplier and partner relationships; uncover revenue and profit opportunities; and improve overall business performance. Under the existing partnership agreement, IBM also resells Hyperion's OLAP technology within IBM DB2 OLAP Server, a standalone product that integrates the Hyperion Essbase OLAP engine with IBM DB2. All DB2 Universal Database Version 7 customers will be able to elect to expand the number of users and deploy these OLAP capabilities across the extended enterprise. These solutions will enable DB2 customers to transform valuable data in e-business, CRM, supply chain and financial systems running on IBM DB2 into actionable information for strategic business decisions. 'Our expanded partnership with IBM opens up a massive global market opportunity for Hyperion, positioning hundreds of thousands of DB2 customers to transform information from e-business, CRM and other operational systems for strategic business analysis,' said Jeff Rodek, chairman and CEO of Hyperion. 'Hyperion's agreement with IBM further validates Hyperion Essbase OLAP Server's role as the de facto standard platform for business analysis across all departments and all industries.' 'IBM's new DB2 Universal Database is the world's first, fully integrated ebusiness database,' said Janet Perna, general manager, IBM Data Management Solutions. 'Our expanded agreement with Hyperion builds upon the proven market success of DB2 OLAP Server as a fundamental component of any successful business intelligence solution. This powerful combination provides customers with sophisticated analytics, broad application support, and a level of interactive performance beyond what traditional decision support systems can deliver.'
