NEC Soft Launches NetVault from BakBone Software

BakBone Software Inc, an enterprise-class storage management software provider, announced that NEC Soft Ltd, the Systems Integration arm of NEC, has selected BakBone's NetVault for its Linux Enterprise Oracle Server Solution.

"With the rapid growth in the Linux market, the subsequent need to provide customers with options for enterprise storage has grown exponentially," said Patrick Barcus, vice president of International Sales for BakBone Software. "NEC Soft's endorsement provides customers with the first high performance storage management solution for the Linux market in Japan, which will also include their extensive consulting, configuration, and maintenance service," said Barcus.

"NEC Soft has always been the first with the 'best of breed' in new technologies to quickly respond to our customers' requirements. NEC Soft is the first in Japan to offer a complete Linux Server Solution, which includes NEC's Express5800 Server, Oracle, Red Hat, and Turbo Linux and now NetVault," said Mr. Yoshinari Furumichi, General Manager IT Solutions, NEC Soft. "We believe NetVault is an excellent and integral addition to our Linux product offerings.

"We chose NetVault, not only for its high performance, ease of use, and reliability, but also because NetVault software provides an open architecture that allows for easy integration with other 3rd party applications such as ecommerce, medical imaging, printing, data warehousing, and many others. Because of NetVault's modular architecture, NEC Soft now has a competitive advantage to deliver data recovery features to the Linux world," said Mr. Ryouichi Minowa, Senior Manager IT Solutions at NEC Soft.

BakBone Software's NetVault is a storage management software application that supports department to enterprise systems, including all major UNIX, Windows NT, and LINUX platforms. NetVault addresses the needs of system administrators for the open systems, client server, and Storage Area Network (SAN) markets around the world. NetVault 6.0 released in May 1999 has an advanced architecture that meets the challenges of storage management for the new high growth computer and communications SAN market.

NetVault's competitive edge includes a long history of speed advantages over competitors for high speed server and client backup and restore. Features include advanced support for SANs, centralized control and management, nonproprietary tape formats for UNIX and NT, tremendous ease of use, and multiple server and client support.
