FRx Announces New Combination of Financial SoftwareFRx Software, a leader in financial reporting and analysis software applications for mid-market and emerging enterprises, announces the first financial analytic software program to incorporate new technology and marketleading product functionality. This latest FRx offering is the first merging XML and HTML support, advanced currency translation, security and email distribution by reporting unit, Webbased report storage and viewing, and instant!OLAP support into a single release. FRx Software's products deliver financial knowledge to more people across the organization, and FRx 6.0's new WebPort and WebView products provide a finance-specific portal environment that allows both FRx and non-FRx reports to be stored and viewed via a Web browser. "Users are demanding financial knowledge that is easily accessible via the Web," said Rob Blake, FRx Director of Product Strategies. "The finance portal allows users to centralize report management and viewing within an enterprise, providing quicker access to more people in a completely secure environment." FRx reports can be published to the WebPort and WebView in two different ways. First, users can be given authority to send reports directly to the portal at report generation time. Alternatively, the Web Administrator can place reports into the portal for viewing by users. Access to the portal is password-protected by user ID and can be specified at the report folder, report and/or reporting unit level. Users can view any report to which they have access, as well as full drill down from summary information to transaction detail. FRx's new Extensible Markup Language (XML) support provides the foundation of the new WebPort and WebView features. The company has embraced the industry standard XML as the de facto report output file format for all reports generated by FRx. Two new XML-based report outputs are included in FRx 6.0 -- one used for report viewing by both the FRx DrillDown Viewer and WebPort/WebView, and one to support data exchange with other XML-aware ecommerce applications. The benefits of incorporating XML support include faster report generation times, smaller report files and quicker data access. XML support also paves the way for FRx to include new and upcoming industry XML-based standards, such as the AICPA's XBRL initiative. "Until recently, there weren't any standards supporting the complex reporting hierarchies and structured content needed for financial reports. With the AICPA's XBRL initiative, we have a financial statement taxonomy and creation standard, and FRx is first to market with a product using this standard within the financial reporting environment," Blake said. FRx's instant!OLAP feature provides an environment for conducting fast, efficient, graphical data analysis. Financial information can be automatically transferred and loaded into a Microsoft or Hyperion OLAP cube for further analysis using an OLAP browser. Automatic creation of OLAP cubes efficiently delivers such benefits as graphically displayed financial report information while eliminating the need for database knowledge and IT involvement. FRx version 6.0 can perform on-the-fly currency translations across multiple accounting systems (historical, spot or average rates). Whether a host system stores currency translations or makes no conversion rates available, FRx will store the rates to be utilized in the report generation process. The feature supports U.S. and European accounting requirements. Product AvailabilityFRx Version 6.0 is shipping now. FRx is sold through partnership marketing arrangements.
