Informix Joins EMC's E-Infostructure Developers Program

Informix Corporation, a technology leader in software infrastructure for the i.Economy, announces it has joined EMC Corporation's E-Infostructure Developers Program and is integrating its Ardent DataStage software with EMC Enterprise Storage systems and software to provide real-time data movement over disparate platforms, including mainframe, UNIX and Windows NT. Ardent DataStage, Informix's industry-leading information infrastructure solution, and EMC's InfoMover will be integrated to provide end-users with a faster, more efficient means of data warehouse creation and maintenance with less impact on network resources.

"By offering a solution integrated with EMC Enterprise Storage systems, software and networks, Informix is providing its customers with a solution that allows them to move vital business and operational information in the most efficient manner, while freeing up valuable resources," said Linda Wright, director of EMC's E-Infostructure Developers Program. "This developers alliance, and the integration of Ardent DataStage and EMC InfoMover, will provide our mutual customers with a tool enabling them to save time and money while maximizing the use of their information and IT resources."

EMC InfoMover is a unique, high-performance software solution that can transfer bulk files bi-directionally between any combination of mainframe, UNIX or Windows-based systems using an Enterprise Storage Network (ESN) instead of the traditional corporate end-user network. It permits the crossplatform transfer of flat files such as text files, sequential data files, binary files, and any file that is usually managed through File Transfer Protocol (FTP) today.

"The combination of EMC's high performance InfoMover and Informix's powerful information infrastructure solutions will be very attractive to companies deploying warehousing and business intelligence applications across multiple diverse platforms," said Mikael Wipperfeld, vice president, marketing, Informix Software. "Going forward, this alliance translates into improved decision making and revenues for our customers."

The EMC E-Infostructure Developers program enables independent software vendors (ISVs) to integrate their solutions with EMC systems and software through EMC's application programming interfaces (APIs).
