Compaq Sets New Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark

Compaq Computer Corporation has once again demonstrated the power and scalability of ProLiant NT platforms by setting a new record on the Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark. Compaq achieved 3,248 concurrent users, with an average response time of 2.23 seconds with Oracle Applications Release 11.03 and Oracle8i Parallel Server Release 2. Compaq used 10 ProLiant 6400R middle tier servers and two ProLiant 6400R database servers. The storage system used was Compaq's Raid Array RA4000. With this proven ability to scaleup, Compaq continues to prove that ProLiant servers perform in demanding applications in today's eBusiness economy.

By interconnecting two database server nodes, Compaq's ServerNet was a critical component in this benchmark and was also used to link the application tier to the database tier. This record represents a scalability factor of 1.81 over Compaq's ProLiant 6400R single system record of 1,792 concurrent users. This is the first time that the Oracle Applications Standard Benchmark with the same mixed workload of OLTP and batch jobs have been run on a single node and a two-node system of the same architecture so that audited results could be compared for scalability.

This benchmark once again highlights the close working relationship between Compaq and Oracle.
