Dirig Releases Proctor 1.7 for Applications Management

Dirig Software Inc, a developer of leading-edge applications management software for e-Business, released version 1.7 of Proctor, the company's flagship management suite for Windows NT, Linux and UNIX operating systems. Featured in the new version are several enhancements that provide IT managers with an increased ability to monitor detailed application performance data and manage them at a granular level through Proctor's dynamic HTML, Webbased interface. With the release of version 1.7, Dirig has positioned Proctor as the ideal applications management tool for companies in the .COM, ISP, ASP and enterprise market segments.

Proctor 1.7 adds Application Data Mining, which allows users to retrieve specific performance information directly from leading e-Business applications, including Apache Web Server, Oracle, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft IIS, and Microsoft SQL Server. New Internet Services subagents enable the strategic placement of subagents across the network for low-cost, end-to-end response time monitoring. IT managers benefit from increased ability to monitor application health and performance data, automate corrective actions on individual application events, and report on detailed performance trends as well as create intelligent Thinking Thresholds that proactively predict, detect, and prevent critical system problems. These new features translate into greater server and application uptime, saving organizations valuable resources in the form of IT support and more productivity for employees and customers accessing the company's server, server applications, or Website.

"The way in which IT managers work is changing rapidly," explained Bob Hoyt, CEO for Dirig. "The dynamic HTML interface is the foundation which supports the need for greater flexibility with managing server applications from anywhere in the world, from any computer with a Web browser. This foundation will enable Proctor to support the wireless market for PDAs and mobile phones. Over the next several months new announcements from Dirig will address these types of innovations and send a message loud and clear to the market that Dirig is a major player in the applications management space."

Advanced reporting technology enhances the Proctor focus on customizable solutions with improved historical reporting mechanisms. Users can easily view reports at any time through a standard Web browser, allowing instant analysis of critical historical data. Enhanced real-time performance analysis enables IT managers to compare statistical values in real time, an extremely useful tool for IT managers trying to resolve application performance problems and prevent an application failure.

IT Managers use Proctor to monitor, analyze and take corrective actions with applications, system resources, log files, and availability statistics. Proctor offers built-in, dynamically configured, Thinking Thresholds for streamlining system performance benchmarks. Proctor is also equipped with a policy management mechanism that allows IT professionals to set policies for servers and groups of servers that propagate down through a policy hierarchy. Managers can insert one change in the hierarchy and simultaneously make the same change across multiple servers on multiple platforms.
