Quallaby Introduces PROVISO 2.0 for NSPs Data Marts

Quallaby Corporation, a leading provider of network performance management solutions, introduced a major new release of its flagship product, PROVISO 2.0, the first network monitoring and service assurance solution architected to enable network service providers (NSPs) to build powerful, scalable network performance data marts supporting both network-centric and customer-centric reporting that is dynamic, on-demand and Web-enabled.

Based on the Sun Solaris platform, PROVISO 2.0 is the only network performance management solution with support for Oracle 8i - the proven, scalable database of choice for service providers' mission-critical environments. This carrier-class combination of Sun, Oracle and PROVISO 2.0 enables NSPs for the first time to build and maintain high-performance, centralized network data marts that maintain ALL of the network data that is crucial to optimizing network performance and managing service delivery. PROVISO 2.0's next-generation approach to service level management thus helps NSPs to increase revenue and accelerate growth by providing the scalability, flexibility and plugability they need to meet their demanding requirements for provisioning new customers and deploying new services.

"Quallaby has spent the last 12 months driven by a fanatical focus on the needs of network service providers and their requirements for software infrastructure products scalable enough and flexible enough to be deployed in next generation network service offerings," said Greg Ferguson, Quallaby CEO. "The definitive result is PROVISO 2.0, the first carrier-class network performance data mart with residential scale on-demand reporting --- just the first of many Quallaby deliverables to be devoted to the fast-moving and continually evolving requirements of service providers."

Commented Tim Weis, senior analyst at TeleChoice Inc, "Quallaby has figured out that network service providers and their customers can reap big rewards by applying data mart technology to measure and analyze exactly what level of service is being provided. PROVISO allows both parties to determine the critical metrics and to clearly see how well the service provider is performing. Eliminating the guess work as to what is good service and what isn't has tremendous value both for the customers and the network service providers."

"UUNET is pleased to be working with Quallaby as they assist us in maintaining our focus on quality customer service," said Christopher M. Schroeder, Director of Customer and Management Information Engineering at UUNET, an MCI Worldcom Company and leader in Internet commerce solutions. "PROVISO 2.0 is one of the key elements in expanding our online customer care initiatives."

PROVISO 2.0 consists of four integrated modules with scalability, flexibility and reliability built-in throughout the system:

  • PROVISO DataLoad -- for flexible, distributed data collection and data import of SNMP and non-SNMP data into a centralized database;
  • PROVISO DataMart -- the hub of the system, for scalable data management, aggregation, storage, and retrieval;
  • PROVISO DataView -- a Web-based portal for on- demand network reports for both customers and network operations; and,
  • PROVISO Application Packs -- for time-saving, service-ready content including pre-defined style sheets, reporters, indicators, and default values.

PROVISO 2.0 will be available in Q2 directly from Quallaby. Pricing starts at $70,000 for a minimum configuration.
