New Software Release from NCR Improves CRM

At a customer conference in Nice, NCR Corporation announced the release of Teradata Warehouse 6.0, a set of software and hardware designed to help businesses better service customers by arming staff with up-to-the-minute customer information.

With NCR's software, front-line employees like shipping clerks, customer service representatives, and airline gate agents can have access to customer information for making quick service decisions or even making customized offers. Using a Web browser or other interface, these employees are able to access the company's wealth of customer information, which resides in a data warehouse from NCR. With this technology, a call center agent, for example, would have access to customer information gleaned moments ago when the customer visited the company Web site.

For the first time, this technology from NCR, which the company calls "active data warehousing," can support up to 4.2 billion end users. With this capacity, even the largest companies can connect all of their employees and even suppliers. To date, the largest number of authorized users on an NCR system is more than 40,000 by a major manufacturer.

Even companies that don't have a large number of employees can benefit from NCR's technology. E-businesses, whose primary customer interface is the Web site, can benefit from the speed in which customer data is available. The NCR data warehouse can feed customer information to the Web site's customization software, which can then create a personal online experience, based on current data.

Companies that don't serve consumers directly can also benefit from quick access to customer and supplier data. These business-to-business organizations can provide access to their data warehouses to suppliers, who can use the information to manage their production and shipment schedules. And employees can better manage the business-to-business relationships with access to current customer data.

Some of the industries NCR targets with Teradata Warehouse 6.0 are ebusiness, retail, financial services, telecommunications, transportation, healthcare and manufacturing.

Teradata Warehouse 6.0 - New Features

Teradata Warehouse 6.0 includes the latest versions of NCR's data warehousing software, utilities and hardware designed to provide a competitive edge to both traditional and online businesses. This includes:
