DB2 Universal DB to be Bundled with RS/6000 Servers

Delivering the power of IBM's DB2 Universal Database to dot.coms and companies born-on-the-Web, IBM announced that for the first time it will ship -- at no additional charge -- development licenses of DB2 Universal Database Version 7.1 for AIX running on RS/6000 Web servers. The offering, which will ship with a scheduled refresh of the AIX Bonus Pack, will include DB2 Universal Database Version 7.1 Starter Kit for AIX, DB2 OLAP Server Starter Kit, and Net.Data.

DB2 Universal Database Version 7 makes it simpler for dot.coms and large corporations conducting business-to-business on the Web to gain competitive insight about their customers, slash application deployment time in many cases by nearly half and perform high-speed Internet searches as much as 10 times faster than traditional relational database search engines. It is the first and only database to fully integrate e-business, business intelligence and content management capabilities, providing increased performance and broader application possibilities for customers.

IBM's new generation of RS/6000 UNIX midrange servers demonstrate IBM's industry-leading technology for the engines of e-business. They feature 64-bit copper technology, outstanding price/performance and superior reliability.

Among the companies benefiting from IBM DB2 technology are Best-ofItaly. com, eDeal.com, WarrantyNet.com, Re-Find.com, SciQuest.com and Mediapps.
