NCR Transfers METIS Software Tool to Computas AS

NCR Corporation and Computas AS announced an agreement in which NCR will transfer the ownership, development, and support of the METIS software tool to Computas AS, a Norwegian company that develops knowledge engineering software applications. The agreement establishes an ongoing business relationship between the two companies.

Developed by NCR, METIS is a visual modeling tool that allows companies to graphically display and analyze the relationships between their business models, technology infrastructure, and ongoing projects. Over 200 NCR consultants have been trained on using METIS to deliver Visual Consulting services. NCR's suite of Visual Consulting services includes offers such as enterprise architecture planning, business discovery, and Euro transition consulting.

"This agreement allows NCR to focus on delivering services that help our customers balance their strategic business and information infrastructure needs," said Tim Davis, vice president of Development and Support for NCR's Worldwide Professional and Technology Services group. "Computas is well positioned to make future enhancements to METIS that will benefit the customers of both companies. Our consultants will continue to have access to METIS when delivering Visual Consulting services to customers."

Under the terms of the agreement, Computas will undertake the continuing development, support, and maintenance of the METIS software. Approximately 15 employees from NCR's METIS Product Center in Horten, Norway will become employees of Computas. NCR will continue to sell the METIS tool and other Computas knowledge engineering products on a referral basis.

Over time, Computas intends to integrate the METIS software with its knowledge engineering products and the FrameSolutions family of component tools.

"Using our Executable Knowledge Model technology, a client's models created in METIS can drive their business applications in real-time."

Exact terms of the agreement were not disclosed. NCR provides a full continuum of consulting and support services, including a wide range of IT consulting services that help companies assess how different technology strategies align with their business strategies.
