VERITAS Database Edition 2.1 for Oracle enables users to quickly and efficiently manage critical data while boosting online transaction processing performance. Optimized performance and increased data availability are achieved through the strengths of several technologies, including Quick I/O, for performance equal to that of raw devices, and Storage Rollback, to speed up database recoverability. With VERITAS Database Edition 2.1 for Oracle's Quick I/O database accelerator, users may experience up to 200 percent faster performance than achieved with traditional buffered file systems.

The VERITAS Database Edition 2.1 for Oracle's (HP-UX) Quick I/O technologies deliver faster performance and file system management flexibility, and the Storage Rollback technologies also enable immediate point-in-time recovery of data from on-disk backup images. Through the single Java-based console, customers can manage all Oracle data residing on HP-UX, enabling them to get a global view of all their data, whether it is stored in a directly attached storage solution or a Storage Area Network (SAN).

VERITAS Database Edition for Oracle also contains VERITAS File System, as well as VERITAS Volume Manager, for simplified management of ever-growing database capacity.
