IBM DB2 Universal Database Sets Performance Record

The fastest database for data warehousing solutions is now the fastest in transactions, as IBM's DB2 Universal Database shattered the world record for two-tier SAP assemble-to-order (ATO) benchmark results.

IBM's benchmark, performed March, 2000 achieved processing of 7,700 assembly orders per hour on a 24-way IBM R/S 6000 S80 with 450MHz processors, and 32 GB RAM. IBM's 2 tier benchmark also comes within 15% of the leading 3 tier result.

Earlier this year, IBM's DB2 Universal Database also set the performance record for SAP's Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) benchmark with 115,570 queries/hour throughput.
