Applix Unveils A New Vision; Demand Chain Management

Applix Inc, a global e-Business solutions company, announced its vision for helping its customers compete and thrive in a new economy. Announced during a Web conference, the company rolled out a new industry initiative coined Demand Chain Management. Defined as the measurement and management of customer demand to drive profitable decision-making, the Demand Chain Management market encompasses both the customer relationship management and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)/business intelligence markets having a combined value of over $20 billion by 2002(1).

"In the past, companies have spent lots of energy and resources on squeezing as much efficiency as possible from the supply side of the business," said Alan Goldsworthy, Applix's president and CEO. "Applix's vision focuses on helping companies to optimize their marketing strategies, their service processes and their customer/product value fit. In today's economy, it is not enough to effectively manage resources, inventory, and supplies. e-Businesses across the world are striving to match both the supply and demand sides of their business." Goldsworthy continues, "Applix is now positioned and focused to help our customers deliver the right product, channel and process to the right customer. Our customers stay competitive, profitable, and more effectively retain and grow relationships."

The Internet-based design of the new release of iEnterprise provides customers with global capabilities that include multi-time zone, multilanguage and multi-currency support. Version 8.0 also provides a strong foundation for supporting mobile technology including wireless Web phone and palm-top computing.

Applix announced that its iPlanning OLAP engine iTM1 has also been enhanced to include extended processing using 64-bit technology.
