Information Builders Releases Meta Directory v.4.3

Information Builders, a global leader in the combined Web reporting and enterprise integration solutions known as i-business, released version 4.3 of Meta Directory, a metadata management console that uses an industry-standard repository to maintain the information that administrators need in data warehouse applications.

Meta Directory was one of the first metadata management tools built around the Open Information Model (OIM), an industry-standard metadata model developed by Microsoft and adopted by the independent Meta Data Coalition (www.mdcinfo.com).

The latest Meta Directory release now automatically captures metadata from both the reporting and extraction, transformation and load (ETL) activities. This includes the WebFOCUS Managed Reporting Environment and SAP R/3, in addition to the stored procedure, middleware and ETL metadata captured in previous releases. Because the metadata resides in a standard repository, users and administrators can browse and manage Information Builders' metadata alongside metadata from other vendors' tools like Microsoft's SQL Server 7 and Computer Associates' ERwin.
