NCR Selects ETI-EXTRACT ETML Solution

Evolutionary Technologies International Inc and NCR Corporation announced that NCR selected the ETI-EXTRACT Tool Suite as its preferred data integration management solution for a new data warehouse professional services consulting service.

An innovative concept from NCR, this rapid design and implementation service will allow NCR to build and stage data warehousing solutions for clients in a high-performance laboratory, allowing greater solution quality, predictability, and shorter development cycles. Extracting and transforming data is frequently one of the most challenging aspects of a data warehouse implementation. ETI-EXTRACT enables efficient access to a wide variety of source databases, significantly accelerating the data warehouse design and implementation process.

Companies now demand the capability to combine operational system data with huge volumes of e-business clickstream data to analyze customer behavior on the Web. NCR's recent Teradata active warehouse and customer relationship management (CRM) successes have demonstrated the need for this service. NCR's and ETI's growing list of enterprise customers will now benefit from the combination of ETI's high-volume ETML capability and NCR's high performance data warehouse industry solutions.

Additionally, ETI and NCR will collaborate on enhancing ETI-EXTRACT to offer a more robust ETML solution for Teradata-based solutions. ETI and NCR will add functionality to ETI's Data System Libraries (DSLs) for Teradata. DSLs enable ETI-EXTRACT to generate native code and scripts to extract and move data between individual databases. Currently, ETI provides two DSLs for Teradata: one to generate programs in C and one in COBOL.

ETI and NCR plan to create a new DSL for TeraBuilder, NCR's next generation of parallel load and unload utilities, as well as a new SQL DSL for Teradata. These DSLs will allow ETI-EXTRACT to generate programs and scripts that pull data from virtually any platform or application into Teradata and use Teradata's parallel capabilities to efficiently manage highly complex, multiple terabyte warehouses.
