DLJdirect Selects Quest's SharePlex for Oracle

Quest Software Inc, a leading provider of application availability software solutions, announced that the DLJdirect online brokerage house has chosen Quest's SharePlex for Oracle database replication software to maintain 24x7 database availability for their online trading application.

DLJdirect, one of the first and most respected online brokerage firms in the United States, was looking for a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution that would enhance reliability of their online trading Web site without investment in additional hardware.

With SharePlex, DLJdirect will also be able to failover to an identical replicated system whenever necessary. They will be able to switch users over to the replicated system while maintaining the primary system, then seamlessly switch them back.

SharePlex is an innovative log-based database replication product that enables users to replicate large volumes of database activity over local or wide area networks. The replicated copy can be used as a fully accessible Oracle instance, yet it does not consume high amounts of system and network resources to maintain. SharePlex allows system administrators to switch database users over to an identical database that is updated continuously, without waiting for a lengthy database recovery, which is especially important to e-business organizations that need 24x7 availability of their applications.
