CyberSource Adds Tools to Internet Fraud ScreenCyberSource Corporation, a leading provider of mission-critical eCommerce transaction services and a pioneer in Internet fraud detection, announced the addition of two new tools to the CyberSource Internet Fraud Screen enhanced by Visa (IFS). These new tools help businesses selling online more easily manage IFS and more accurately predict the potential for online credit card fraud. The Fraud History Center is a new system that gives CyberSource customers the option to automatically submit data on known fraudulent transactions to CyberSource for maintenance in a secure environment. A steady flow of information on fraudulent transactions, in addition to the Visa chargeback data currently incorporated into the IFS modeling and screening process, assists CyberSource in refining its IFS fraud model to be as predictive and accurate as possible. The IFS Administration Interface is a Web-based administration tool that enables CyberSource customers to easily and rapidly update their IFS 4.0 Fraud Screen settings as their volume, product or fraud patterns change. To update these thresholds and settings, CyberSource customers can access a secure section of the CyberSource Support Center and instantly calibrate their personal IFS settings to improve the accuracy of the identity verification for their specific online sales. "To date this year, the dollar value of products and services processed through the IFS system on behalf of CyberSource customers exceeds $500 million -- indicating that today's leading online businesses look to CyberSource to help make the Internet a secure environment for commerce," said Tracy Wilk, vice president of product management for CyberSource. "The addition of these two new features exemplifies our commitment to providing the premier risk management solution available today. By providing simple tools for businesses to continually streamline order acceptance practices in real time, we help them better assess and make judgments upon potentially fraudulent transactions across all card types, reduce the risk of rejecting valid orders, and maximize sales." The Fraud History Center and the IFS Administration Interface are available now at no additional charge to existing CyberSource customers that use IFS via the company's online Support Center. About the Internet Fraud Screen enhanced by VisaThe CyberSource Internet Fraud Screen enhanced by Visa screens eCommerce transactions and measures the level of risk associated with each order, returning a related risk score back to the merchant in real time. This service not only provides a more efficient risk management tool for merchants, but also provides a higher level of security online. The CyberSource Internet Fraud Screen enhanced by Visa uses data validation, artificial intelligence pattern matching, network data aggregation and negative file checks as it examines more than 150 different factors to calculate the risk of fraud associated with an online purchase. Merchants have the flexibility to tailor specific seasonal or other deviations in their expected customer behavior. Online merchants can run a pending credit card request through this online service and receive a rating or "score" that assesses the likelihood of fraud. Merchants then make a decision about whether to accept or reject the order. The average time for the fraud screening process is less than one second.
