Kmart Expands NCR Data Warehouse to 70 Terabytes

NCR Corporation and Kmart Corporation announced plans to upgrade and expand Kmart's NCR data warehouse to 70 terabytes in size. Built on NCR's Teradata database, this expansion marks the second in two years and has nearly doubled Kmart's capacity.

Kmart will use this additional data warehouse capacity to increase its Merchandising, Inventory Planning and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capabilities.

A member of NCR's Terabyte Hall of Fame, Kmart's data warehouse is one of the largest of the 220 terabyte or larger systems NCR has installed to date. A terabyte is the equivalent of 250 million pages of text or 38 miles of full file cabinets.
