ORACLE INTELLIGENT WebHouse FOR COMPREHENSIVE REAL TIME BI

Oracle Corp, one of the largest providers of software for e-business, announced the success of the Oracle WebHouse initiative, which is helping customers analyze and leverage e-commerce data for targeted customer campaigns in real time.

Since its introduction last year, Oracle Intelligent WebHouse has been expanded to include several new products including Oracle Warehouse Builder, and Oracle Clickstream Intelligence and the Personalization technology for Oracle9i Database announced with this release. Oracle has also worked diligently to provide integration with other Oracle and partner products through its lead role in many new industry standards for data warehousing. While some vendors offer solutions that do not easily integrate with other technology or rely on partner products for key functionality, Oracle delivers a product family that is comprehensive, integrated and standards-based, providing real-time business intelligence to all employees within an enterprise.

In an age defined by information, nothing is more important than having comprehensive, up-to-the-minute business intelligence. Whereas yesterday's data warehouses were silos of information that did not provide an integrated view of customers or of the enterprise, today's e-business climate demands business intelligence systems that provide consistent, dynamic, up-to-date information to decision-makers throughout an organization.

Onvia.com Inc, a leading business-to-business exchange for small businesses, implemented an Oracle Intelligent WebHouse solution in just eight weeks. Onvia's Oracle implementation will enable the company to adopt standard key metrics for internal reporting and systematically share and analyze data on its eight business units, leading to more accurate business decisions.

"You cannot develop a successful business without the appropriate tools," said Ross Paul, chief technology officer at Onvia. "Oracle's data warehousing solution is helping us understand our business and make sense of the numbers. With that invaluable insight, we're laying the foundation for smoothly expanding the company."

New Products, Proven Favorites Make Up Oracle Intelligent WebHouse

Oracle Intelligent WebHouse products span the entire range of data warehouse offerings, including the industry-leading database designed for data warehousing; support for data extraction, transformation and loading; and Internet business intelligence tools that support the full spectrum of analysis.

Announced recently, Oracle Clickstream Intelligence is a new full-featured click-stream analysis product that takes the guess-work out of e-business success by providing a simple method for gathering and levering information about Web site visitors and tracking Web site operations. Oracle is the only vendor to offer a fully integrated, extensible product that provides both Web traffic and analytics.

Also announced recently, Oracle Personalization technology provides realtime personalization for e-business sales channels, such as Web Stores, application hosting environments and call centers. With Oracle Personalization, Oracle provides an integrated real-time recommendation engine that is completely embedded within the Oracle9i database. By delivering real-time personalization via the database, Oracle Personalization is the most scalable, powerful and real-time personalization offering available.

Oracle announced several new products in the last year, building a more comprehensive Intelligent WebHouse solution. Oracle Warehouse Builder is an extensible and easy-to-use data warehouse design and deployment framework that automates much of the work that goes into creating a powerful, single data store for e-business analysis. Oracle Pure Extract is a mainframe data extraction tool that provides the fastest way to move large volumes of mainframe legacy data into data warehouses. Oracle Pure Integrate is advanced customer data integration software that transforms, cleanses and integrates data to support customer-focused initiatives.

Support for Industry Standards Enables Integration

As with most Internet technologies, the integration and sharing of business information cannot happen without standards. In the last year, Oracle has lead the way in proposing and backing several standards for data warehousing, including the Common Warehouse Metamodel (CWM) and its Java implementation, Java Metadata Interface (JMI); Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML), an XML-based language that provides a quick and easy way for companies to define predictive models and share models between compliant vendor applications; and, a new Java standard Application Programming Interface for Data Mining (JDMAPI). Only with these standards and standard-compliant software can e-businesses be assured that all their business intelligence and data warehousing software will work together smoothly, ultimately providing the business information needed to stay competitive in the marketplace.

"With e-businesses collecting an ever increasing amount of information, data warehousing is not an option -- it is a requirement. It is now more critical than ever for companies to improve the collection and analysis of customer data if they are to achieve and retain success in the e-business world," said Michael Howard, Oracle vice president of Business-to-Business Integration and Data Warehouse division. "Oracle is the only company that can provide the technology required to answer all the questions that will make today's e-business successful."
