INFORMATICA INSIGHT 2000 AWARD WINNERS

eBusiness Analytics: eBay

In February of this year, eBay implemented Informatica's PowerCenter to transform its enormous volume of eBusiness data into customer insight. All functional areas across eBay's business -- including accounting, customer service, marketing, finance and product development -- now rely on PowerCenter to better understand and serve customers, conduct more efficient marketing and manage the overall business more effectively.

ERP Analytics: Ultramar Diamond Shamrock

Ultramar Diamond Shamrock is one of the largest petroleum-refining companies in North America. UDS implemented Informatica's PowerCenter to provide sales, marketing and finance users across the company with centralized access to SAP R/3 data (housed in SAP BW) and other key corporate information. Since going into production with PowerCenter, the company has increased both its profitability and market share.

Metadata Management: Fair, Isaac

Fair, Isaac is a globally recognized ASP that builds CRM-focused analytic solutions for its customers. The company used PowerCenter to create a centralized data warehouse "hub" that stores generic mappings and transformations, and PowerMart to build five client-specific data mart "spokes". Fair, Isaac's unique implementation illustrates how companies can successfully leverage common metadata and transformations across multiple data warehouses.

Corporate Data Warehouse: Purina Mills

Purina Mills is the nation's largest producer of animal-feed products. The company used PowerCenter to consolidate historical data from the company's legacy mainframes with more current information from its SAP R/3 system for analysis. By providing key decision-makers across the company with a centralized view of corporate information, Purina Mills is able to conduct trending and forecasting analysis that has substantially boosted sales and manufacturing efficiency across the company.

Very Large Data Warehouse: Gateway

Built using Informatica's PowerCenter software, Gateway's nearly two terabyte data warehouse is helping the company successfully conduct customer relationship management. By consolidating customer data from numerous disparate sources across the company, Gateway effectively analyzes customer-buying trends to anticipate customer needs, and personalize products and services.
