NCR Prepares for Exploding DW Market with PartnershipsIn a move that NCR Corporation predicts will position it to capture a booming data warehousing and customer relationship management (CRM) market, the company has recently formed a new global organization, focused on developing strategic partnerships. Leading industry analyst firms forecast that the data warehousing market will grow 20 percent or more annually for the next three years. Research commissioned by NCR, which to date has more than 220 installed data warehouse systems at a terabyte in size or larger, predicts the total market for terabyte-sized systems should reach 3,200 by 2002. "The growth in data warehousing can be attributed to the tidal wave of data now flooding the Internet economy, as well as the need by traditional companies to have an enterprise-wide view of their company information and customers," said Steve Millard, vice president of Strategic Partnerships for NCR's Teradata Division. "To be poised to capture this market opportunity, NCR has committed to and invested significantly in establishing a world-class global partnering organization and program, Team Teradata." Millard has built a dedicated partnership team consisting of business development managers, regional and global account managers, technical consultants, and marketing and training resources. Millard concluded, "Together with our partners, we can expand the reach of our solutions and focus on new industries and markets. The net benefit for our customers will be best-in-class data warehousing and CRM solutions to drive aggressive growth."
