Windows HPC Cluster Consortium at World Trade Center

On November 2 the Cornell Theory Center Advanced Cluster Computing Consortium (AC3) will present a seminar on high performance Windows 2000 clusters at the World Trade Center, Manhattan.

David Lifka, Cornell Theory Center Associate Director, will speak on "Windows 2000 Clusters: Maximizing Performance, Minimizing TCO." Cornell is operating 256, 128, 48, and 32-processor Windows 2000 HPC clusters and e-Computation and e-Science Web-based server farms for engineering, computational biology, data mining, and other numerically and data intensive applications.

The program will include speakers from AC3 consortium partners Dell Computer, Intel, and Microsoft. Michael Lambert, Senior Vice President, Dell Computer Enterprise Systems will present high performance "Enterprise Strategies." Gene Quaglia of Intel will provide insights on current and future Intel architectures. And Ed Muth of Microsoft will discuss "Web-Scale Clustering for .NET Services."

In addition, David Yeger, First vice president of Merrill Lynch will speak on "High Performance Computing for the Financial Industry." Merrill Lynch is operating a large-scale Dell PowerEdge cluster as their next generation Broker Information Management System.

The mission of the Advanced Cluster Computing Consortium is to maximize the performance, scalability, and reliability of industry standard HPC clusters, software, and tools through advanced research and IT services.
