Atinav Launches aveConnect 2.3

Atinav Inc, a provider of Internet communications and collaboration software, launched aveConnect 2.3 with extended application program interface (API) capabilities to support Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and below. aveConnect 2.3 are robust Type 4 Java database connection (JDBC) 2.0 drivers developed to deliver high performance database connectivity at a low price.

The aveConnect product is a Java-based, 100% JDBC compliant development tool for fast and flexible data processing and secure multi-user access to Microsoft SQL, Microsoft Access and database files (DBF) over any platform. aveConnect 2.3 and aveConnect 2.3 with extended API downloads are available for a free 30-day trial by visiting the Atinav Web site, where more than 8,000 users have downloaded an aveConnect product.

aveConnect promotes easy configuration and deployment for the database developer, using the latest standards of JDBC specification to dynamically store, retrieve and access database information. It offers a direct connection from a server to a database without memory affliction at the client location. aveConnect enables businesses to efficiently decrease server overhead through the use of minimum active connections when retrieving data. Additionally, it retains database security by including password and data encryption on its driver.

"aveConnect is the third product in our of avenue communications and collaboration suite, and we are leveraging its popularity to drive growth for our other products," said Matin Moosa, COO, Atinav Inc. "We designed our JDBC driver products to connect quickly and seamlessly to databases with universal online access for increased productivity, thus making aveConnect the database programmer's connectivity tool of choice. Like the rest of the avenue line of products, aveConnect demonstrates our leadership in performance, quality and attention to high-speed information control."

aveConnect 2.3 with extended API contains the following enhancements:

  • Rowsets - because of its ability to connect to a data source to store data in memory without leaving a continuous open connection, these are ideal for sending data over the Internet to thin clients such as Web browsers, laptops and wireless devices.
  • Connection Pooling - several database connections retained as a cache in memory allow the reusability of connections as a time-saving factor for faster performance. This also saves on costs associated with the opening and closing of connections to databases.
    • Data Source - serves as an alternative interface to data connections in making connection codes more portable and easier to maintain with independent code maintenance through the registration with an independent Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI).
