Quallaby Ships PROVISO 2.1Quallaby Corporation, a leading provider of telecommunications software for next generation networks, announced general availability of PROVISO 2.1, the network monitoring and service assurance software architected for network service providers (NSPs). This release builds on PROVISO's Oracle-based network, service, and performance data mart (PROVISO DataMart) with new features for operational support system (OSS) interoperability and overall increased scalability. Key to OSS interoperability is that PROVISO DataMart can integrate service information with actual performance metrics and apply them to customer service guarantees. This information enhances other OSS functions such as configuration management, fault management, security, and accounting. NSPs gain improved network performance and faster and more accurate provisioning, while their enterprise customers gain reports enriched with service level information mapped to customer-specfic attributes via PROVISO DataView Web portal. PROVISO 2.1 adds new OSS integration points and support for high-level queries of aggregated and correlated data. These improvements simplify integration with in-house developed and commercially available OSS software and facilitate automation of routine procedures. For example, now a customer Web portal and the associated performance verification reports can be automatically provisioned in PROVISO DataView as soon as a circuit is provisioned. "OSS integration, particularly through sharing service performance information, is rapidly becoming a strategic requirement for NSPs," noted Tim Weis, senior analyst at TeleChoice. "Quallaby is leveraging the PROVISO carrier-class data mart with more integration points for OSS data sharing, thus leading the way to more competitive operations for both NSPs and their customers." PROVISO 2.1 improves overall system scalability by enhancing the performance of PROVISO DataMart to aggregate network performance data from the distributed PROVISO collectors. Thus, network operations reports and service level reports can span larger networks while maintaining a single top-level view. And, because PROVISO DataView reports are generated on-demand, operators can identify and respond to network conditions more quickly than ever before. "From @Link's customized network solutions to our Performance Level Guarantees, we rely on our next generation network and management tools," said William White, chief information officer for customer @Link Networks. "A best-in-class solution like PROVISO enables @Link to provide the highest reliability for mission critical applications by making available network performance and service information on-demand, where we need it, when we need it, for both our NOC and our enterprise customers." "With the release of PROVISO 2.1, Quallaby continues to focus on the rigorous requirements of network service providers for an automated provisioning process," said Greg Ferguson, Quallaby CEO. "With the availability of the integrated data mart, PROVISO helps to enrich the service management chain, from provisioning right through to billing."
