SAS Gives Pennsylvania State University $1 M, 3-Year Grant

SAS Institute, a market leader in e-intelligence and data warehousing, announced a three-year, $1 million software grant to the Pennsylvania State University.

This grant provides SAS' award-winning data warehousing and data mining technology to enhance classroom instruction and research capabilities for students, faculty, and staff. SAS solutions will be used at all 24 Penn State locations throughout Pennsylvania.

"Penn State welcomes the partnership with SAS," said Gary Augustson, vice provost for information technology. "Collaboration with this international leader in business and analytic decision software will enable the University to provide its students and faculty with technology resources critical to their success in the global digital environment."

"Through this grant, SAS is able to share its technology with one of the nation's finest universities, one dedicated to the education of tomorrow's scientists, engineers, and business leaders," said Jeff Babcock, vice president of U.S. public sector sales and marketing. "Our goal is to provide Penn State's students and faculty with resources to inspire innovative research and to supply graduates with the technical skills necessary to meet the challenges of the 21st century."

Additional contributions include the three-year, $1 million grants awarded to both North Carolina State University and the University of California's 10-campus system.

"We believe our nation's prosperity and financial welfare begin with our education system," added Babcock. "These grants validate our dedication and support for the mission's of these outstanding universities now and in the future."
