Vit'e Introduces SimVision 3.1 Project Test SW

Vit'e Corporation announces the release of SimVision 3.1, a breakthrough software solution that empowers senior executives and high-level project consultants with the ability to "flight test" large-scale projects or a program of multiple projects.

SimVision is the only solution that models the organization and work processes of complex strategic projects and uses simulation to predict their expected outcomes. By analyzing the resulting data, an organization can optimize and fast-track its performance on projects and programs and allocate scarce resources efficiently, saving millions of dollars on the missteps and miscalculations that normally plague IT projects, large business system implementations, capital projects and new product development.

SimVision's breakthrough approach to project design, the result of a 10-year study of project planning research and analysis conducted at Stanford University, is currently being used by companies like AT&T Wireless, Dell Computer, Applied Materials, Hewlett Packard, Procter & Gamble and John Deere to fast-track large-scale projects.

"SimVision provides senior-level executives with a strategic planning solution that lets them 'flight test' their plans and manage the risk associated with any large-scale project or series of projects," says Bob Drazovich, president of Vit'e Corp.

"It empowers them with the foresight they previously sought through expensive and time-consuming vehicles such as management consultants, ad-hoc analysis or a just-plain 'best guess.' Through SimVision's analysis, an organization can effectively make direct revenue impact decisions at the executive level."

Through its powerful simulations, SimVision 3.1 identifies potential resource, schedule and quality problems that put projects at risk for failure, and provides quantitative data for immediate management intervention at the optimal time - before a project begins. The simulation also predicts how well an organization will perform, allowing managers to design an optimal plan and effectively allocate human resources across multiple projects.

Vit'e's SimVision empowers executives with an advanced decision-making solution by:

  • Optimizing the way an organization performs on its projects,
  • Engaging decision makers and team members in fact-based strategic discussions,
  • Planning and executing the optimal portfolio of projects,
  • Delivering high quality projects on budget,
  • Establishing aggressive and realistic timelines for fast-track projects,
  • Identifying, evaluating and reducing performance risks,
  • Leveraging human resources across multiple projects.

The software tools focus on problems encountered in fast-track project execution, such as the increased requirement for communication and coordination between team members responsible for interdependent, parallel tasks. SimVision 3.1 directly addresses these issues and gives users the ability to understand and plan for all the work associated with a project, including the direct work, coordination and rework. SimVision's unique ability to predict the full scope of work allows tasks to be reliably completed in parallel, thus significantly shortening the project completion time.

SimVision project models are developed by entering an organization's activities, skills, communication flow, and dependencies into the program. The model is run through a discrete event simulator to achieve steady state behavior and produce analysis that assesses various performance metrics. Over 40 graphical and text reports identify schedule, cost and process quality risks associated with specific tasks and project participants.

"Virtually all of today's large-scale projects, particularly IT implementations, are fast-track in nature, and if a company fails in their execution, the results can be catastrophic in terms of lost revenue or lost market share," says Dr. Raymond Levitt, chairman of Vit'e Corporation and part of the Stanford team that developed SimVision. "SimVision was developed specifically to empower executives to participate in the planning process by modeling fast-track projects and allocating resources across a portfolio of fast-track projects."

Vit'e Corporation offers SimVision 3.1 as part of a total client solution that includes supporting training, modeling and analysis methodology and consulting services.

SimVision 3.1 works in conjunction with operational scheduling and management products as a front-end project planning and design tool. See the SimVision 3.1 product fact sheet for technical information and system requirements.
