Majestic Motors Uses IBM DB2 to Increase Sales 600%

IBM announced that Majestic Motors, a Honda dealership based in Lincoln, RI, has achieved a 600 percent increase in online orders since implementing an IBM e-business solution powered by IBM's DB2 Universal Database. About 130,000 Honda automotive parts and accessories, as well as diagrams and step-by-step installation instructions for everything in the catalog, are stored on a 50GB DB2 database. The database also houses instructions on finding the proper parts for specific models and installation instructions.

Working with Specialized Software, a Premier IBM Business Partner in Worcester, MA, Majestic Motors also implemented IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite to provide shopping functionality and generate Web page content. The Web site traffic has allowed Majestic Motors, a Honda parts dealer with more than $1 million in on-site inventory, to increase its online orders by 600 percent.

"There are millions of Honda owners, and they all need parts, " said Marc Charren, president of Majestic Motors. "To capture that market, we needed to make buying online easy. The IBM e-business solution does just that."

The Web site allows employees to focus on fulfilling orders and increase productivity, and has also allowed Majestic Motors expand its customer base, as inquiries and purchases are made from all over the globe. The Web site, found at www.hondaautomotiveparts.com, has been billed as the Internet's number one site for purchasing Honda automotive parts.
