High Tower Launches TowerView NOC Network Performance Tool

High Tower Software, a world pioneer in data discovery for business intelligence, has launched a network management version of its award-winning TowerView software tool that helps streamline the detection of network performance problems by simplifying the human interface in monitoring operations -- regardless of the size or complexity of the network itself.

By offering service level monitoring and instant identification and access to the status of up to hundreds of thousands of potential failure points in any network, TowerView NOC (for "Network Operating Centers"), makes it possible for operators to immediately diagnose with specificity and dispatch network engineers in real time. TowerView NOC significantly cuts downtime with this "one-click" analysis and service dispatch feature.

TowerView NOC is designed to give an instantaneous "at-a-glance" overview of all variables in the network architecture - immediately highlighting failure points by name and pinpointing those portions of the overall network performing outside acceptable levels.

An advanced data analysis tool originally designed to measure the health of NASA satellites millions of miles from home, TowerView NOC concentrates operator attention on the most critical pieces of performance information -- those exhibiting significant performance variations - within any network operation, of any size or application.

"Because of the limitations of human viewing and comprehension of such massive systems, current network management solutions require IT professionals to choose and move between monitoring different levels of the network operation - often without knowing what they're looking for in the way of failure signals," explained Robert Angelino, director of software development for High Tower Software. "TowerView NOC immediately alerts anyone monitoring a network to problems they might need to address - by name - and allows them to dispatch it to the appropriate second or third tier support workers."

One-Click Service Level Monitoring

Using an advanced, patented data display technology known as CyberGrid, High Tower's TowerView NOC grants instant visual access to a comprehensive 3-D representation of all relevant information and graphically highlights changes in the status of an active or passive component of any type of network - ranging from Internet infrastructures to massively large telecommunications operations and even at enterprise-wide installations like the one used by Alias/Wavefront, an SGI company.

"High Tower Software's network management tool has given Alias/Wavefront a new, more complete 'one-click' perspective on managing and monitoring the health of our company's complex, mission critical, multi-platform network installation," said Henry Castro, systems administrator for Alias/Wavefront, a leading developer of 3-D animation software and computer-aided industrial design software (CAID).

"TowerView software greatly simplified the process of monitoring service level operation of the many diverse and sometimes distant pieces of our enterprise network. It allows me to spot any potential problem in one glance, even across several layers of network topology," added Castro.

TowerView NOC uses a series of four color-coded alarm notifications -- ranging from a simple advisory to high-level, point-of-no-return warnings -- assigned to each network device that are visible to anyone monitoring the operation the CyberGrid display. Each colored "tower" in the CyberGrid can be tailored to any level of operational variation the network administrator desires - and notice of each level of alarm can be sent via e-mail or pager to the appropriate network management contact, from IS or ISP manager to a troubleshooting engineer.

High Tower's TowerView NOC can operate as an add-on to any existing network management system (NMS) or network management platform (NMP) installation, allowing proactive detection and preventative solutions to be applied to virtually any common network problem across multiple reporting layers.

For more complex network dilemmas and failures, TowerView NOC can save hours of research and analysis time and reduce the costs associated with bringing in outside network engineers for consultation. High Tower Software is the world pioneer in business intelligence solutions for massively large data applications. Since inception in 1997, the Irvine, Calif.- based company has commercialized technology developed at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and enabled businesses to proactively manage operations through visual representation of real-time business data.
