Rapt/Actuate Deliver Interactive and Actionable Content

Rapt Inc, a leading provider of solutions for Dynamic Commerce Management (DCM) and Actuate Corporation, a Information Delivery market leader, announced a strategic partnership to jointly market and sell its products. According to the agreement, Rapt will optimize its platform for integration with the Actuate Information Delivery solution, thus enabling customers to more quickly and effectively present Rapt's trading intelligence data and strategic sourcing plans.

The Rapt platform optimized for use with Actuate is intended to support companies that buy and sell large volumes of goods in fast-moving markets. Customers can leverage the Actuate Information Delivery solution to deliver interactive and actionable, Rapt-optimized plans in formats built specifically for the intended audience. By presenting the most relevant data, Rapt customers will be able to make more intelligent buying decisions.

"Actuate will make it easier for our customers to bring Rapt's pervasive decision intelligence to their enterprises and trading exchanges," said Dick Hoffmann, vice president of alliances at Rapt. "By partnering with the leader in Information Delivery solutions, we give our customers the ability to present Rapt-optimized recommendations that are customized for specific audiences. These can be an EPS impact analysis for a CFO or a component shortage risk analysis for a buyer -- all from the same Rapt plan."

Rapt's patent-pending decision optimization platform enables businesses to maximize financial performance by quickly evaluating and addressing risk in all buying and selling activities. Rapt's initial application for the decision optimization platform, Rapt Buy, is Web-based and determines optimal strategic sourcing plans to mitigate the supply-demand imbalance, helping companies improve revenue capture with minimal component spending.

Actuate allows for the creation, management and delivery of secure, perfectly formatted content that is seamlessly integrated with the rest of a company's Web site using operational data from multiple sources (e.g. RDBMS, data warehouse, application objects, legacy systems, EAI, etc.). Actuate is used to deliver content such as service level information, transaction histories, performance summaries, manufacturing and distribution status, and customer account information.

"By connecting Rapt's powerful analytics with the Actuate Information Delivery solution, companies will now be able to deliver trading intelligence information to customers, partners and employees in the format that best fits their role," said Nobby Akiha, vice president of marketing at Actuate. "We look forward to working with Rapt to expand the use of our Information Delivery solutions across the entire Rapt platform."

Integration between Actuate and Rapt will use the RaptML component of the Rapt Dynamic Commerce Framework. The framework simplifies integration and provides a protocol for intelligent collaboration at the decisioning layer, where buyer and seller decisions about when, where and how to procure, price, and sell strategic goods are determined.
