NuSphere Granted Exclusive Training Rights for MySQL

NuSphere Corporation, provider of NuSphere MySQL, a leading packaged software product for the open source database marketplace, announced that Polycon, the developers of the official MySQL training materials, has granted the company exclusive training rights within the Western Hemisphere. Under the agreement, NuSphere will offer three separate courses on the introduction, administration, and optimization of the MySQL database, the No. 1 open source database on the market. The company has already begun scheduling classes between January and March on both U.S. coasts.

Initially, the training will be held at NuSphere training centers in Massachusetts and California; the current course schedule is available online at www.nusphere.com/services/training.htm. The agreement allows NuSphere to start offering traditional instructor-led training classes based on official MySQL training materials. Interested parties are able to register for any of these training courses by emailing training@nusphere.com.

The Polycon Official MySQL Training Program was developed jointly between Polycon Ab and Michael "Monty" Widenius, chief technology officer of MySQL AB of Sweden and other MySQL core team members. The program consists of a full-fledged set of MySQL courses and seminars, on par with courses that exist for commercial databases, such as Oracle, MS SQL Server or Sybase. A portion of each course fee will be contributed to MySQL AB toward the further development of the MySQL database.

"We set out to create the comprehensive MySQL Training Program, to build a full set of MySQL courses and seminars that would contribute toward the MySQL revolution and further the ease of development for the growing base of MySQL users," said Kaj S. Arno, chief executive officer of Polycon. "NuSphere shares our vision so we have chosen to give them the exclusive rights to our training programs. NuSphere's contributions and expertise have shown dedication to helping achieve our goals, to properly train developers on the MySQL technology."

"MySQL began as a grassroots open source database project but is becoming more widely accepted among the community and used increasingly in mission-critical applications," said D. Britton Johnston, chief technology officer of NuSphere. "We have already received many requests for training courses and are moving quickly to meet the demands of the community."
