Sybase's Adaptive Server Enterprise Beta Now Available

Continuing to focus on customer needs, Sybase Inc made available the beta version of Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE), the e-Business Database. This next-generation version of Sybase's flagship relational database management system (RDBMS) delivers new productivity, management and security features for enterprises' expanding e-Business needs.

The new beta version supports Internet security and directory services, enhances application developer productivity by supporting technologies needed for rapid building and deploying e-business applications and meets the enterprise needs of online and traditional businesses. These features reduce downtime for critical Internet and online transaction processing in addition to making ASE easier to use for database administrators.

ASE 12.5's new Internet security and directory services, Unicode support and management of unstructured data are designed to ensure that private data communications and storage stay private and to meet global e-Business needs. ASE 12.5 features both Secure Sockets Layer link protection and row-level security.

New e-Business productivity enhancements allow developers to quickly integrate XML-based applications with the database and allow Java developers to quickly create business rules and execute Enterprise Java Bean components in the database. Sybase ASE 12.5 is the first RDBMS to incorporate an integrated XQL query facility featuring an open query-engine which can search XML documents residing in the database, stored in a file, or even remotely from a URL. Other innovative features and capabilities such as high availability along with superior performance help reduce IT costs and consolidate ASE's position as a leading, enterprise-class RDBMS for any e-business deployment.
