Informix SW to Market MITS Interactive Reporting/BI SuiteInformix Software, the database company, announced that it has entered into an exclusive agreement to market, sell and distribute the Management Information Tools Software (MITS) online analytical processing tool suite for MultiValue databases. Developed by Management Information Tools Inc as a low cost, high performance business intelligence solution, MITS is compatible with a wide array of MultiValue databases, including Informix Software's extended relational databases, UniData and UniVerse (U2), which command approximately three-quarters of the MultiValue database market according to a recent Gartner Group report. "The MultiValue database marketplace is integral to the success of Informix Software," said Susie Siegesmund, vice president and general manager, U2 and Tools, Informix Software. "This agreement demonstrates our ongoing commitment to strengthen the U2 open MultiValue tools offerings by working with partners to deliver customers powerful, cost-effective solutions like MITS to help them unlock the full value of their data." Under the agreement, Informix Software is granted the exclusive rights to add MITS to the Informix Software open MultiValue tools family, which also includes SB+, wIntegrate and RedBack, and will begin promoting and selling MITS through its worldwide channel sales force immediately. "Partnering with a market leader like Informix Software will give MITS greater exposure throughout the MultiValue database community, particularly internationally," said Pat Gilbrough, president, Management Information Tools Inc. "In addition to tapping into Informix Software's tremendous marketing and sales organization, this agreement validates the strength of the MITS tool suite in combination with the U2 databases, which are proven to be a flexible and robust foundation for mission-critical business and e-commerce solutions." Informix Software's U2 databases have been adopted by more than 600 value-added resellers (VARs) and embedded into applications relied on by more than two million users worldwide across vertical markets such as manufacturing, distribution, retail, health care and telecommunications. "We selected MITS as our data mining solution, and it is the best value I have seen for a complete customizable reporting solution," said Thomas Goble, information systems manager, Northwest Trailer Parts. "MITS doesn't require high-end servers to deliver good performance, and it doesn't require a huge investment, extensive training, or specialized personnel to get it in-house and online." Comprised of MitsServer, MitsMaker, MitsView, and MitsSecurity, the MITS interactive reporting and business intelligence tool suite enables users to easily summarize and analyze operational data for underlying conditions and trends critical to improving an organization's overall efficiency and profitability. "MITS enjoys the highest satisfaction and greatest accolades of any of the various third-party products we have installed in our customers' systems over the years," said Don Webb, president, Prelude Systems Inc. "MITS leverages the superior flexibility of the extended relational model, delivering analytical processing within the same database used by the business applications. This advantage permits Prelude to offer its customers tremendous analytical functionality that is cost effective because it avoids the need for separate hardware." In addition to the U2 databases, MITS is also available on D3, jBASE, mv.BASE, mv.Enteprise, SequoiaPRO and other MultiValue databases.
