PSE Optima's AutoPilot Saves Companies Millions

PSE Optima announced the release of AutoPilot, the first optimizing process controller to fully integrate multivariable and knowledge based control with neural nets and other artificial intelligence techniques in a single robust package suitable for plant engineering staffs.

A typical plant using AutoPilot will see a one to five percent increase in profitability, which translates into revenue increases of millions of dollars for companies in process control industries such as oil refining, petrochemicals, mining, natural gas and cement.

PSE Optima's AutoPilot software increases plant effectiveness with multistate modeling, a method that allows plant processes to be understood by representing them in small, manageable packets of knowledge which can then be linked together in a networked fashion.

AutoPilot technologies maximize throughput, search for cost savings and provide quality enhancements. AutoPilot's short installation period and easy user interface eliminate the need for highly trained advanced control experts and long consulting agreements typically required by other products.

AutoPilot has been installed at Amerada Hess-Seminole, a natural gas plant in Seminole, Texas. "I have never seen a project like this one where operators and shift supervisors are so happy," said Bill Hobbs, the plant manager at Amerada Hess-Seminole. "The system has gone in so easily."

Sheldon Shumway, PSE Optima's president and chief executive officer commented that PSE Optima is offering a seminar to process control engineers to show them the benefits of AutoPilot technologies. "This five day practical training course includes lectures, hands-on exercises, labs and workshops," he said.

"It is designed to teach plant engineers about simple optimizing control technology and is an excellent seminar for those who wish to learn how to implement and maintain advance control in the process plant as well as by those interested in generally understanding the basic 'where and how' of optimization." The seminar is being held on March 12-16, 2001 at Salt Lake City's Snowbird Lodge and Ski Resort.

With offices located in Salt Lake City, Houston and London, PSE Optima specializes in automation products and services to help its customers get the most from their manufacturing and processing facilities.
