Dirig SW Delivers Management Solution for MySQL

Dirig Software, developer of leading applications and systems management solutions, announced that it has released a new Specific Application Manager (SAM) for proactively managing MySQL, the world's most widely used open-source relational database. The new database SAM has been added to Dirig's SAM portfolio enhancing the management capabilities for IT administrators responsible for database management. MySQL was voted best database for year 2000 by both Linux Journal and Linux Magazine.

Through a set of pre-configured management rules, SAMs provide IT administrators with a solution to increase the rate of install and solve application problems such as database management. The MySQL SAM addresses the issues of managing an open-source based database alongside other database configurations. Customers in a multi-platform environment have the flexibility and control to effectively and proactively manage separate databases.

"From the beginning, Dirig's multi-platform strategy has been to lead applications and systems management for the open source community through support of Linux," explained Chris Lesar, vice president of operations for Dirig. "With the addition of our MySQL SAM, Linux users committed to open source applications like MySQL have a management solution for both the database and systems they reside on. This compliments our existing support for other popular Linux-based applications such as Apache, ColdFusion, Lotus Domino and others."

With Dirig's technology, right out of the box companies have the ability to monitor and manage any server-based application. Through a few simple rules, Dirig solutions are able to manage processes or services specific to a given application, as well as monitor any text-based log file or EventLog message. The technology also provides the ability to sample and monitor any Performance Counter (perfmon attribute) as well as integrate data points via the execution of a script or batch file. Dirig's Specific Application Managers (SAMs) quickly allow a user to manage an application with minimal or no added configuration. Through a simple drag and drop function, Dirig SAMs are imported and a set of predefined rules are automatically created, providing users with maximum application management with minimal configuration.
