Paymentech Standardizes with Informatica Data Integration

Informatica Corporation, a leading provider of eBusiness analytic software, announced that electronic payment processing leader Paymentech has standardized a key portion of its transaction approval system on the Informatica data integration platform. Paymentech recently converted the back-end systems of its Salem, New Hampshire-based processing center to a new state-of-the-art eBusiness infrastructure. Informatica played an enabling role by transparently bridging Paymentech's new merchant relationship system to the company's legacy environment.

"Informatica provides us with a data integration platform for the long haul -- one capable of meeting our high-volume challenges," said George White, Paymentech's chief technology officer. "Working with Cambridge Technology Partners, our consultant on this project, Informatica enabled us to quickly phase in a flexible new merchant system for our non-face-to-face processing system. As the largest processor for this market, -- it was fundamental to our competitive position -- that we do this without disrupting the operations of our legacy systems and databases."

"Our business runs on this data, so Informatica's role is business-critical. We could never have done this using database stored procedures, which lacks the Informatica out-of-the-box transparency, ease of development and self-documentation advantages," said White.

In the first step of its migration to a new infrastructure, Paymentech deployed a merchant system that enabled more adaptable accounting and flexible merchant access to payment funds. Capable of tracking complex customer relationships and providing a single customer view, the new system was populated overnight by Informatica data integration platform. Currently, it handles more than 120 complex mappings multiple times a day between Paymentech's Informix-based legacy databases and the new system's Oracle database.

"Highly competitive companies like Paymentech must move aggressively to stay ahead of market needs, which means focusing IT efforts on creating business value, not on writing infrastructure code," said Diaz Nesamoney, president and COO of Informatica. "We're pleased to have helped Paymentech move quickly in integrating its new merchant system with the rest of its systems environment.
