CORE INTEGRATION PARTNERS UNVEIL THE MATRIX METHODOLOGY

Core Integration Partners Inc, a leading provider of decision-support and business-intelligence services, unveiled a ground-breaking methodology that provides a consistent, repeatable process for building a data warehouse across almost any industry.

This focused approach, called The Matrix Methodology, incorporates industry-wide best practices with concrete deliverables.

"The Matrix Methodology is not just another data warehousing theory. It has real deliverables behind it and works for any type of information generated by a business, and it accommodates any data migration or integration services," said Dan Linstedt, chief technology officer of Core Integration Partners Inc and creator of The Matrix Methodology.

Linstedt, a leading expert on enterprise-wide systems projects, developed The Matrix Methodology over 10 years, combining the best practices of such industry pioneers as Bill Inmon and Ralph Kimball with a plug-and-play implementation architecture.

Linstedt said The Matrix Methodology is unique in its flexibility, allowing companies to use the methodology in its entirety, or combine portions of it with a firm's existing data warehouse methods or practices.

All of the highest standards for building and using data warehouses have been incorporated into The Matrix Methodology. It includes a Data Vault that uses a normalized data warehouse to integrate all information from star schemas or data marts under a single business functional area. It also encompasses a DSS/OLAP component that organizes and presents the data in a clear, analytical fashion.

Other innovations that differentiate The Matrix from other methodologies include its integration of SEI (Software Engineering Institute) protocols and unique "Meta Gates," where data cleansing and enhancement processes take place. The Meta Gates ensure the information is accurate, clean and in some cases improved when it comes out on the reporting end.

"The Data Vault is really the heart of The Matrix. It is specifically modeled to be scaleable and contains a large amount of information in a small storage area," said Linstedt. "It can have a tremendous amount of integrated content that companies can use for not only analytics, but data mining, if that's what the customer wants."

The Matrix Methodology was designed to be implemented quickly and cost effectively - no matter how large the project - by using a small group of consultants called a Star Team. This team is usually comprised of five to eight consultants, each a highly skilled expert in an area of data warehousing. Whether the project is large or small, using The Matrix and the industry's best tools, their highly focused approach allows them to rapidly deploy the project.

"In today's speculative economic climate, where companies are being prudent about how they spend their money, our approach should bring some welcome relief," said Ana Quintana, principal of Core Integration. "Our goal is to bring in a smaller, more expert group of consultants, deploy the project rapidly and show our customers ROI as quickly as possible."

Quintana added, "The Matrix is definitely geared for how companies will do business in the new millennium. Its time has come."

Linstedt added that further savings come from The Matrix Methodology because the customer's original investment is protected.

"You don't have to reinvent the wheel when you want to add refinements, expansions or any changes to the operations of your data warehouse," said Linstedt. "The Matrix Methodology really goes beyond data warehousing as we have known it, and it brings incredible return on investment."
