AIT Offers MS SQL 2000

Advanced Internet Technologies (AIT), the Web hosting and ecommerce provider, is rolling out SQL 2000 database. "This tool puts big business hardware into the hands of smaller companies, at an affordable price," according to Clarence Briggs, AIT's Chief Executive Officer. "SQL 2000 ties in very well with our Windows hosting solutions, and we have integrated management of the database into the Windows control panel." AIT will also support SQL 7.0.

The introduction of SQL 2000 further solidifies AIT's relationship with Microsoft. AIT was the first company to offer the software maker's SharePoint Team Services collaborative Website tool, to be released as part of Office XP and is also among the select group of participants in the Application Service Provider (ASP) program. "These solutions provide businesses with capabilities they couldn't afford to develop themselves," said Ed McDaries, Chief Operating Officer at AIT. "We provide the back-end support, saving customers IT costs, plus they don't have to worry about expensive upgrades."

SQL 2000 allows users to access and manipulate data from a Web browser. It's another aspect of the mobile office concept that's being developed to accommodate both ecommerce companies and brick and mortar enterprises. The database can be built and deployed quickly, and can perform data mining on customers and financial information. "It provides for limitless growth, which fits very comfortably into our business model," said Briggs. "Too many products require companies to invest in more infrastructure or software than they need, and excessive overhead has proven a serious problem in the Internet industry."
