TDWI 2001 PIONEERING PRODUCTS WINNERS ANNOUNCEDThe Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI), a premier educational association in the data warehousing and business intelligence industry, proudly announces the winners of the 2001 Pioneering Products Competition. Compudigm's SeePOWER was declared the Data Visualization Pioneering Product of 2001, while Unica's Affinium Model won the Customer Analytics Pioneering Product of 2001. Nine finalists competed in the head-to-head Pioneering Products Shootout on Thursday, March 1, at the TDWI World Conference - Winter 2001 in Palm Springs, CA. The judges selected the one product in each category they believe holds the most potential to revolutionize the practice of data warehousing in that area. The solutions were judged for their Innovation, Usefulness, Extensibility, Ease of Use, and Overall Quality. "This was an incredibly impressive group of products, showing that innovation is flourishing in the software business. We saw how Customer Analytics have become a necessary part of doing business for every company, and Visualization has truly come of age," said Herb Edelstein, president, Two Crows Corporation, who served as moderator and judge. "Unica delivered a well balanced presentation that demonstrated the leveraged use of customer analytics to drive a solution for customer-centric business processes," stated Mark Smith, president, Full Circle Strategies, who served as a judge in the competition. Affinium Model is a full-featured module within the Affinium suite addressing a complete range of data mining tasks from data importing and processing, to analysis and model building, to model deployment. It includes four integrated applications for customer valuation, segmentation, response modeling, and cross selling. "Compudigm visualization techniques can definitely help a business succeed. I found their solution innovative and a definite part of the corporate information factory," said competition judge Joyce Norris-Montanari, vice president, Braun Consulting. SeePOWER takes large volumes of data from multiple sources and presents it as contoured, colored images and animations. This allows business executives to rapidly obtain a qualitative and quantitative understanding of their business' information, interpret and understand it quickly, make decisions, and then take prompt action.
