SAS/Warehouse Administrator 2.2 ReleasedSAS Institute, a market leader in e-intelligence and data warehousing, announced the availability of Release 2.2 of SAS/Warehouse Administrator. The new release offers a "process automation" capability that uses metadata to navigate and query warehouse objects, as well as to automatically enable other ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and drive reporting applications. The new release of the software is available in Release 8.2 of the SAS System (also due out this month). "Warehouse Administrator continues its dominance as the most scaleable and flexible warehousing solution on the market today," said Frank Nauta, SAS program manager for data warehousing. "This new version allows an application or user to build a completely metadata-driven or business rule driven process all programmatically via the enhanced metadata API." For example, the software can transform data source elements according to business rules, and store them in data warehouse tables. "With the underlying metadata architecture of the new release and a fully enhanced API, reporting applications can now re-generate existing, processes programmatically, or create entirely new ones through the metadata -- without the need to use the GUI in the design tool," Nauta explained. "This brings the usefulness and purpose of process metadata and business rules to the forefront in data warehousing." SAS/Warehouse Administrator, Release 2.2 includes enhancements like the OLAP Data Store; the Process Library registration process; the metadata API (Application Process Interface); and the LDAP Security Interface. The new release also offers a more integrated solution for generating reports using Enterprise Reporter software from SAS. And the Getting Started tutorial from the SAS/Warehouse Administrator desktop makes it easier to learn to use the software. SAS/Warehouse Administrator, a component of the award-winning SAS Solution for Intelligent Warehousing, is designed for the IT professional responsible for creating and managing data warehouse processes. It is a customizable solution that offers a single point of control making it easier to respond to the ever-changing needs of the business community.
