Ormet Overhauls HR Operations with Oracle E-Business SuiteOracle Corp, one of the largest providers of software for e-business, announced that Ormet Corporation, a leading producer of high-quality aluminum products, is implementing the Oracle E-Business Suite to streamline and Web-enable its human resources processes. Ormet expects to reduce steps to process payroll, enable the compilation of information in a timely manner, simplify reporting procedures and give employees direct self-service access to pertinent human resources information using the new Oracle Human Resources Management System (HRMS). "We were really sold by the potential of the self-service capabilities of the Oracle solution," said Chuck Hill, project coordinator for Ormet. "We want to lower the administrative burden on our clerks who are currently the only ones able to make benefit changes for our 3,300 employees. We plan to go to a kiosk system and eventually give employees access to information via the Web to make changes themselves." As a company that works with labor unions and operates nine facilities in seven states, Ormet needed a human resources system that could handle their specific complexities that would not require customization. The flexibility of the Oracle solution, and the ability to configure the software to meet complex business requirements without having to customize the code, were key aspects in Ormet's selection of Oracle HRMS, which includes Oracle Payroll and Self-Service Human Resources. Ormet also recognized the Web-based processes and self-service capabilities as big benefits of the Oracle solution. The Oracle E-Business Suite is one of many e-commerce initiatives Ormet has implemented over the past year. Ormet has the distinction of being the first primary aluminum manufacturer to offer inventory sales over the Internet. About OracleOracle Corporation provides the software that powers the Internet.
