Medical Scientists to Launch HybridAI

Medical Scientists Inc (Boston, MA) released its HybridAI next-generation Rational Artificial Intelligence (RAI) predictive modeling technology to the healthcare industry at the National Managed Healthcare Congress in Atlanta, GA.

HybridAI is the first healthcare technology to apply RAI to the identification of catastrophic risk cases, producing previously unachievable levels of speed and accuracy. In essence, this new system identifies catastrophic risk individuals before they get sick so that managing organizations can apply accelerated care. HybridAI is the company's latest addition to its complete line of healthcare predictive modeling technologies.

"The convergence of technology and improved clinical knowledge has given us a powerful tool to improve the quality of healthcare and at the same time ensure the appropriate use of limited healthcare dollars," said Harry Poteat, MD, ScD, Vice Chairman and CIO of Medical Scientists. HybridAI leverages RAI to help health insurers, health plans, case managers and medical professionals identify patients whose care would be enhanced by earlier intervention.

The new RAI technology has distinct advantages over previous technologies, including new levels of speed and accuracy "In essence, the HybridAI technology creates a customized Artificial Intelligence (AI) model for each data set," Dr. Poteat said." As a result, HybridAI can produce results in only a matter of days, putting accurate information in the hands of the care manager much quicker. We believe it is the most advanced system available today to identify catastrophic risk," Dr. Poteat added.

The HybridAI system has been operational in a Beta environment for the past year, having already been used by some of the nation's leading healthcare organizations to test its abilities. "Medical Scientists has been able to achieve sensitivity rates as high as 95.1 percent, and specificity as high as 99.9 percent using client data to predict next-year catastrophic cases," Dr. Poteat said. In addition to using traditional claims and eligibility data for analysis, HybridAI is also able to utilize non-traditional data, such as health plan benefit structure, HEDIS and NCQA markers, occupation and disease prevalence and incidence rates, and even median income for its predictions. "This advanced new technology has exceptional control over sensitivity, specificity and accuracy," Dr. Poteat said.
